XII International Symposium on Polymer Electrolytes
29 August - 3 September 2010
It is a great pleasure for the Organizing Committee of the XII International Symposium on Polymer Electrolytes (ISPE-12) to convene in Padova all the people involved in research and technology on materials and devices for energy conversion and storage and for the transduction of chemical into electric phenomena.
Since 1987 ISPE took place every two years in the following countries: United Kingdom (St. Andrews, 1987), Italy (Siena, 1989), France (Annecy, 1991), USA (New Port, Road Island, 1994), Sweden (Uppsala, 1996), Japan (Hayama, Kanagawa, 1998), Australia (Noosa, Queensland, 2000), USA (Santa Fe, New Mexico, 2002), Poland (Mragowo, 2004), Brazil (Foz do Iguaçú, 2006) and Portugal (Ofir, 2008).
In Padova, which represents one of the most significant places in the tradition of the classical and humanistic culture, is present one of the oldest universities in the world (established in 1222). Galileo Galilei lived and taught for eighteen years in this city (1592-1610). Around 1600 Padova became the place where for the first time blossomed the well-known inductive experimental method which, during the following centuries, promoted all the fields of science into the propulsion hearts of modern technology and lifestyle.
ISPE-12 will provide a multidisciplinary forum with participants from many parts of the world. The topics will cover the fundamental and applied aspects of polymer electrolytes, both conventional and innovative, of the systems [polymer electrolytes/ionic liquids] and of ionic liquids. Furthermore, the experimental and theoretical studies of their properties, the mechanisms of charge migration and interactions and the reactions at electrochemical interfaces will be highlighted, together with the application of these materials in batteries, fuel cells, supercapacitors, sensors, actuators, photo-electrochemical devices, microelectronics and biotechnology. The main aim of ISPE-12 is to bring together leading international scientists, engineers, top-level industrial management and business executives to discuss all the aspects of the science, technology and applications of ion-conducting materials.
On these bases, it is our great pleasure to invite you to participate actively to this meeting, in order to extend and renew with innovative contributions and stimuli this crucial field of science and technology of the future world.
We are looking forward to seeing you in Padova in 2010.
