Cristina Silva Pereira (PhD in Biochemistry, 2004) is a group leader at ITQB NOVA since 2008. She has pioneered the merging of mycology and ionic liquid chemistry; a line of research that has been in the foundation of her vision of mimicking the functionality of plant polyesters to develop novel and efficient antifungal therapies, now awarded with nearly 2 million in an ERC Consolidator Grant.
