Masakazu Aono

International Center for Materials Nanoarchitectonics (MANA), Japan

Masakazu Aono is Director of International Center for Materials Nanoarchitectonics (MANA), National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan. He is concurrently Distinguished Chair Professor at Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National Taiwan University, Taiwan. He received his PhD in materials engineering from University Tokyo in 1972. He is a pioneer of nanoscale science and technology since he organized and operated Aono Atomcraft Project supported by the government of Japan (1989-1994). His recent research interests lie in novel nanoscale devices for ICT. He received Minister’s Prize from Japan’s Science and Technology Agency (1983) and from Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology (2007); Japan Surface Science Society Award (2004); Feynman Prize in Nanotechnology (U His main research interests lie in SA, 2010); Nanoscience Prize (ACSIN-12 & ICSPM21 2013); and so on. He is Fellow of American Vacuum Society; Institute of Physics (UK); Applied Physics Society of Japan; National Institute for Material Science (Japan).
