SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME

“The Centenary” is intended to celebrate the 100 anniversary of the first Italian Chemical Society, the centenary of the pH definition and the 25 anniversary of the “Chemistry Games”. Therefore, with the help of the Società Chimica Italiana we will present to the participants. 1) The book “Chimica: una storia dai manifesti” (Chemistry: history from posters) a collection containing copies of 100 posters describing products advertised from 1890 to 1960. 2) A CD “La Chimica Italiana” (The Italian Chemistry) reproducing the celebration of more than 620 chemists who operated in Italy during the past two centuries. 3) A brief outline of the history of the chemical communities in Italy. 4) A brief description of the 25 years of the “Chemistry Games” in Italy. Obviously, this material will be distributed onlyto registered participants.

The Congress is organized in several sessions dedicated to different aspects of chemistry. For details see: Programme

At the end of each day, from Monday to Thursday, 18.00 to 19.00, there will be a conference open to the general public:

• Tuesday Prof. Rosangela Marchelli (Univ. di Parma): “I segreti molecolari della gastronomia”
• Wednesday Prof. Vincenzo Balzani (Univ. di Bologna): “Energia per l’astronave Terra”
• Thursday Prof . Antonio Sgamellotti (Univ. di Perugia): “La Scienza Molecolare per l’Arte: dal Rinascimento al Contemporaneo”
